Installing Keyboards & IMEs on Vista/Windows 7

Open Control Panel

 

Click “Clock, Language, and Region” button

Click the “Change keyboards or other input methods” button

Click the “Change keyboards…” button

 

Click the “Add” button

 

Select the specific language you want and press “OK” button. Instructions for specific languages:

US International Keyboard (use for French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish)

Arabic Keyboard

Chinese IME Keyboard

Hebrew Keyboard

Hindi Keyboard

Japanese Keyboard

Korean Keyboard

Russia Keyboard

 

 

US International Keyboard (use for French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish)

Press “+” preceding “English (United States)”, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “United States-International”, then press “OK”

Press “OK” button for the ‘Text Services and Input Languages’ window and press “OK” button for ‘Regional and Language Options’ window.

Arabic Keyboard

Press “+” preceding “Arabic (Saudi Arabia)”, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “Arabic (101)”, then press “OK”

Press “OK” button for the ‘Text Services and Input Languages’ window and press “OK” button for ‘Regional and Language Options’ window.

Chinese IME Keyboard

Install traditional keyboard: Press “+” preceding “Chinese (Taiwan)”, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “Chinese (Traditional) – New Phonetic”

Press “OK” button for the ‘Text Services and Input Languages’ window and press “OK” button for ‘Regional and Language Options’ window.

Install simplified keyboard: Press “+” preceding “Chinese (PRC)”, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “Chinese (Simplified) – Microsoft Pinyin IME”, then press “OK”

Press “OK” button for the ‘Text Services and Input Languages’ window and press “OK” button for ‘Regional and Language Options’ window.

Now that the languages have been installed, make sure the proper settings are enabled:

When using Chinese Traditional:

With “Chinese (Taiwan)” as selected language in language toolbar, press “Tool Menu”, then “Properties”

 

Select “Keyboard Tab”, select “Han Yu Pinyin” from drop-down menu, then press “OK”

 

When using Chinese Simplified:

With “Chinese (PRC)” as selected language in language toolbar, press “Input Style “, then “ABC Input Style ”

 

Hebrew Keyboard

Press “+” preceding “Hebrew (Israel) “, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “Hebrew”, then press “OK”

 

Press “OK” button for the ‘Text Services and Input Languages’ window and press “OK” button for ‘Regional and Language Options’ window.

 

Hindi Keyboard

Press “+” preceding “Hindi (India) “, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “Hindi Traditional “, then press “OK”

 

Press “OK” button for the ‘Text Services and Input Languages’ window and press “OK” button for ‘Regional and Language Options’ window.

 

Japanese Keyboard

Press “+” preceding “Japanese (Japan) “, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “Microsoft IME “, then press “OK”

 

Press “OK” button for the ‘Text Services and Input Languages’ window and press “OK” button for ‘Regional and Language Options’ window.

 

Korean Keyboard

Press “+” preceding “Korean (Korea) “, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “Microsoft IME “, then press “OK”

Press “OK” button for the ‘Text Services and Input Languages’ window and press “OK” button for ‘Regional and Language Options’ window.

 

Russia Keyboard

Install standard keyboard: Press “+” preceding “Russian (Russia)”, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “Russian (Typewriter) “

 

Install simplified keyboard: Press “+” preceding “Russian (Russia)”, arrow preceding “Keyboard”, select “Russian”, then press “OK”

 

Press “OK” button for the ‘Text Services and Input Languages’ window and press “OK” button for ‘Regional and Language Options’ window.
