I have done the following procedure and succesfully removed all protection in Firefox v23. This will help you to view syllabi and media content in OWL Space.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/967760
To permanently disable:
1. In the address bar, type “about:config” and press Enter.
2. Click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button.
3. In the search field, type “block_active”.
4. Set the value for the one search result (“security.mixed_content.block_active_content”) to “false”.
After above procedure, I restarted Firefox and all is well.
REMEMBER – you are removing all protection from Firfox. Be aware and please practice safe surfing.
Mac Users
If you have updated Mozilla Firefox to v.23, your audio recording may no longer work in OWL Space Tests & Quizzes. If it is not working, please update your Java Running Environment (JRE).
*Before going through the download procedure below, make sure that the problem is not your audio input. To set your audio input, open System Preferences -> Sound -> Input.
Steps to update your JRE
Mac OS X x64 | 50.62 MB | jre-7u25-macosx-x64.dmg |
This should allow you to record.
If you updated Mozilla Fireforx browser to version 23, there is a trick to watch media files in OWL Space.
As shown below, please click on the shield which appears in your address bar to disable the protection.
This protection may apply to other part of OWL Space, too. So keep watching for that protection icon.
(A big thanks to Jane Puthaaroon from Educational Technologies for this tip.)
